The first harvest of potato mini-tubers was obtained within the framework of the Miratorg company project for the development of potato selection and seed production in the Kaliningrad region.

The most important stage of the project’s implementation was jointly undertaken by Miratorg and the fast-food chain Vkusno – period. During a partner visit to the Kaliningrad facilities of Miratorg in the region , the owner of “Vkusno – and dot” Alexander Govor, together with the General Director of Miratorg West LLC Zhanna Malkova, inspected the laboratory and greenhouses of the breeding project and outlined further steps to evaluate varieties from the point of view of industrial use for the joint venture for processing potatoes "Grand Frize".
Potatoes of specially selected varieties obtained during the project will be processed at the joint venture of Miratorg and the Vkusno-i Tochka chain in the Oryol region in the fourth quarter of 2025. The plant, with a capacity of 135 thousand tons of finished products per year, will produce French fries, country-style potatoes, hash browns and potato flakes.
Agricultural Holding "Miratorg", in partnership with colleagues from specialized state scientific institutions, has initiated a major scientific work, the result of which will be the inclusion of new table and industrial potato varieties with specified economically valuable traits in the State Register of the Russian Federation. The appearance of such varieties will not only cover the internal needs of the holding, but also provide Russian potatoes to the enterprises of the Vkusno-totka network. The project is being implemented as part of the Subprogram of the Federal Scientific and Technical Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation “Development of selection and seed production of potatoes in the Russian Federation for 2017 – 2030.”

In the Kaliningrad region there is a modern energy-saving greenhouse complex and a center for microclonal propagation of plants with a phytosanitary control laboratory, which allows the production of high-quality seed material free from infectious loads.
The Miratorg company is investing about 1 billion rubles in the potato breeding project. The entire cycle of growing seed potatoes from the meristem in vitro to the Elite and RS-1 classes – stages ready for sale for seeds – is implemented in the territories of the Kaliningrad and Bryansk regions.
