Asos chief technology officer Clifford Cohen is leaving the fashion retailer after nine years.
Cohen, who joined the company as its digital boss in 2015, said on LinkedIn that he was quitting the retail industry to start a “new and exciting challenge in the renewable energy sector at the start of August”.
Asos has appointed Hugh Williams as its interim executive vice-president for technology. Williams ran his own advisory firm where he has worked with companies including Doordash, Moonpig, and Ocado.
Prior to Asos, Cohen spent eight years in the IT department at M&S holding several roles including business solutions manager, head of IT and interim chief information officer between July 2014 and April 2015.

Cohen wrote on LinkedIn: “After nine amazing years I have made the difficult decision to leave Asos and move onto my next challenge.
“It has been an absolute pleasure and honour to lead the Tech team at Asos and I couldn’t be prouder of the team we have today and what we have achieved.
“I would like to thank my entire technology team, past and present. I would also like to thank Jose Antonio Ramos, Nick Beighton and Nick Robertson for all their support and friendship over the years.”
Asos CEO Ramos said: “After nine fantastic years, Cliff Cohen, executive vice president [of] technology has taken the decision to leave ASOS and departs with our deepest gratitude and best wishes.
“We were delighted to welcome Hugh Williams as Interim EVP, Technology, on 17 June. Hugh has extensive experience across major global technology companies such as Microsoft, eBay, and Google, and has acted as an advisor to ASOS over the past 18 months on our technology and digital product strategy.”
