Both ASF outbreaks occurred in areas where the disease had previously been reported in pig herds. The advantage of this situation is that we are not at risk of expanding the scope of the red zone. Unfortunately, the duration of the herd blockade for breeders from the region will be extended by another few weeks.
Outbreak No. 2024/33 was confirmed in the town of Studzieniec in the Rogoźno commune (Obornicki poviat). This is the second outbreak confirmed in this town – the first one occurred in mid-July (2024/22). In the Rogoźno commune alone, 5 outbreaks have been confirmed this year, and in the poviat – 7.
Outbreak No. 2024/34 was confirmed in the southern part of Poznań, near the border with the Puszczykowo commune. This is the second ASF outbreak confirmed in this part of the region.

ASF in 2024
Wielkopolska is definitely in the lead when it comes to the occurrence of ASF outbreaks in pigs this year. Out of 34 infected herds, 22 were located in this part of the country. The situation is the worst in the Gniezno and Obornicki counties. In addition, the plague also occurred in the area of Poznań, as well as in the Wągrowiec, Poznań, Czarnków-Trzcianecki and Piła counties.
Other regions lag far behind. In addition to Greater Poland, the disease was also confirmed in the Lublin, Masovian, Warmian-Masurian and West Pomeranian Voivodeships.
