
Securing trade of pork despite ASF
Brazil has entered with Singapore an regionalization agreement for trade of pork on the outbreak of African Swine Flu (ASF). He informed the government of this in Brasilia. The goal is to ensure trade of pork despite evidence of ASF.
Exports to Singapore  have increased;
The Brazilian government also views the agreement as evidence of Singapore’s confidence in the work of Brazilian veterinary authorities, as and to the performance of the production sector of the country in food safety. The Government has also emphasized the importance of Singapore as an essential market for Brazilian pork exporters. According to data from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), in 2024 year. in Singapore sold a total 79 100 tons of fresh and processed pork with total exports of 1.352 million tons. Exports to Singapore were in 2024 year by 23 percent more than in 2023 year.
Brazil free from ASF since 1988 year.
Brazil is free from ASF since 1988 year. According to the World Organization of Animal Health (WOAH) in the last years in the whole continent of South America there has been no one case of ASF. Singapore already in
2021 year. agreed to a regionalization agreement with Germany on ASF. However, in
relation to the old case of flu in Brandenburg, Germany and Singapore
have
not negotiated the regionalization agreement yet.
