Ardo recruits new CEO from Vandemoortele

Sabine Sagaert will become the new CEO of frozen vegetable giant Ardo. The West Flanders native is moving over from Vandemoortele, where she was in charge of the bakery products branch.

Family history

Following the departure of CEO Gabriëlle Kalkwijk in early 2024, Ardo has found a new head of management in Sabine Sagaert, De Tijd reports. Sagaert is swapping Vandemoortele, where she headed the bakery products division, for the world leader in frozen vegetables.

At Vandemoortele, Sagaert led two important recent acquisitions, among others. The mayonnaise and margarine maker bought Banneton in the US and Dolciaria Acquaviva in Italy, both specialising in frozen bakery products.

Yet Sagaert is entering familiar territory at Ardo: the West Flanders native can count on a lot of experience with family and food companies. Before moving to Vandemoortele in 2020, the top manager was active at Cargill, one of the world’s largest family-owned agricultural and food companies. Before that, she headed Belgium and Luxembourg at AB InBev.
