Danes take over shares in Polish distribution company
The Italian company has identified healthy snacks as a “key category for expansion in Europe” and believes Sonko’s portfolio has synergies with Euricom’s business.
– Through our long-standing partnership with Sonko, we have seen the company develop a market-leading brand with an attractive product offering focused around snacks. This transaction will help us reach our revenue target of EUR 1 billion in the near future, said Bruno Sempio, CEO of Euricom.
The Sonko brand has been present in Poland since 1989, and the company's offer includes healthy snacks such as rice wafers, chickpea chips, chocolate crispbread, as well as a wide range of rice and groats. The company employs 300 people in two production plants and has its own sales and distribution team. Oshee took over Sonko in 2019.
Takeovers on the food market in Poland
This is another takeover on the Polish food market, of which there have been many recently. The Norwegian Infifresh Foodtech (Captain Fresh Group) is taking over the Polish salmon producer Koral. The Ukrainian company "Trzy myśli" took over the ice cream and frozen food producer Nordis, and the British company Princes will be taken over by the Italian Newlat Food SpA. The British have an oil factory in Szamotuły (Olej Wielkopolski). In turn, one of the largest German dairy concerns – DMK Deutsches Milchkontor – wants to take over the Warsaw company Mlekoma Dairy.
