Layoffs in northern Poland. IKEA is leaving its employees

The factory in Gniezno began operations in 2020, after the purchase of warehouse halls for approximately EUR 10 million by a joint venture between Toshiba Corporation and Carrier Corporation. During its operation, it became entirely owned and managed by Carrier Global Corporation. The investment in the production plant amounted to approximately PLN 100 million. The factory covers an area of 37,000 m2. square meters, of which production halls are 17 thousand. square meters. The plant produced air conditioners, refrigeration systems, fans and compressors, reports Moje-gniezno.pl.

The factory was to become an important element of the local economy, providing employment and supporting the development of the region. The first devices produced by the plant left the production line at the beginning of 2021. Initially, the plant employed 30 people, then gradually the number of staff increased to over 100 employees.

The decision to liquidate the factory is a big loss for the local community and the city. The dismissed employees are to be supported by local organizations and the administration.
