According to the Association of Estonian Motor Vehicle Sales and Service Enterprises (AMTEL), sales of new cars in July remained at the level of previous months, but increased compared to last year.
As the press service of the union reported to BNS, in particular, 1,854 new passenger cars were sold in Estonia in July, which is 1.8% more than in July last year. However, the overall seven-month figure for the new passenger car market is still 13.8 percent lower than the same period last year, the union noted.
Electric vehicles sold 122 units in July, accounting for 6.6 percent of total sales. Through seven months, the number of electric vehicles sold to customers this year is more than 1 percent higher than last year.
Hybrid vehicles still accounted for the largest share at 50.5 percent in July, and their sales were up 8 percent from last year.
For the second month in a row, Škoda is the most popular car brand with 338 vehicles sold, followed by Toyota with 264 and Volkswagen with 149 vehicles. Škoda also tops the ranking for the seventh month in a row. Two Škoda models were the most popular among buyers: 109 sales of the Kodiaq and 108 sales of the Octavia. Toyota Corolla came in third with 81 vehicles.
Commercial vehicle sales fell for the second month in a row, with 272 new vehicles delivered to customers in July. A total of 2,808 new commercial vehicles were sold in the first seven months of this year, down 0.6% from the same period last year. The three most popular brands of passenger cars were Peugeot, Ford and Citroen.
Scania and Volvo sold the most trucks.
