Fairtrade is one of the Fair Trade certification systems. It is a movement founded by non-governmental organizations and volunteers. It aims to improve the situation of agricultural producers in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Southeast Asia and Oceania. Fairtrade works to eliminate forced and child labor and fairer trading conditions for farmers and plantation workers, including fair procurement prices.

Additionally, farmers are paid special funds – the so-called Fairtrade bonus – which farmers and plantation workers can spend on modernizing farms or implementing projects for the local community, e.g. improving housing conditions, providing education, etc. The bonus depends on the number of products sold by the first buyer in the Fairtrade system – this is how the sum was collected PLN 84,624 from the sale of items available at Rossmann in 2023.

Rossmann has three Fairtrade certified products in its assortment, all belonging to the EnerBIO brand: coconut chocolate, cashews with milk chocolate coating and agave syrup. The company is the Polish market leader in the sale of certified agave and took 6th place in Poland in terms of sales of Fairtrade cocoa beans.
