- Aldi is testing its click and collect service in three German locations.
- Consumers can place an order online and then pick it up in store parking lots.
From July 15, customers will be able to collect orders placed via the Mein Aldi platform at two locations near the Aldi headquarters in Mülheim and at the supermarket in Düsseldorf. This platform is not new: Aldi Süd has been testing a home delivery service in Mülheim since last year. It offers 1,300 items from a full range of 1,700 products. Deliveries are made from the so-called darkstore. – reports Lebensmittel Zeitung.
Aldi is testing click&collect
However, when it comes to click and collect, Aldi has chosen to be more reserved. It seems that Aldi's management has doubts about the economic prospects of such a service and is afraid that this solution may affect sales in stores.
In turn, the chain's competitor – Rewe – recently opened the largest "autonomous" supermarket in Europe. Aldi Süd therefore feels somewhat obliged to innovate.
