As a result of a fire on the night of July 12-13 this year. The production hall at the Aksam plant in Malec, Oświęcim County, Lesser Poland, burned down. As the company states in a press release, "thanks to quick and efficient firefighting action, the fire did not spread to the main part of the production plant," but the damage was extensive.
Destroyed halls
The firefighting operation lasted as long as 11 hours. Over 200 firefighters and 50 fire trucks participated in it. As a result of the fire, the roof of one hall collapsed and the second hall was partially destroyed. Firefighters managed to defend the largest and most important hall from fire. Aksam's Management Board informed that it is making efforts to resume production and rebuild the plant as soon as possible. This will take time though.
There will be no layoffs
However, the owner assured that although he had to reduce production, he did not intend to lay off employees. Only 35 percent can work on one shift. crew. So everyone will work 2 weeks a month, but with a normal salary, as for a whole month of work – Business Insider reports.
