A farmer from Creußen in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia suffered double damage. First, his tractor caught fire while he was working in the fields. Then, thieves stole the vehicle he had left behind, reports the Bavarian Agricultural Weekly.
When the tractor caught fire, firefighters quickly arrived and extinguished the machine. The main damage was to the vehicle's cab and tires. The damage was estimated at 25 thousand euros. The farmer, urged by other work, left the tractor in the field for 3 days. When he finally arranged transport and wanted to take the burned vehicle, it turned out that he had been beaten to it by lovers of free spare parts.
The thieves removed the front loader, hydraulic system components, and several other parts of the tractor. The police are looking for witnesses who will help them identify the perpetrators of this theft. Restoring the tractor will cost the owner much more.
