Short EMS training sessions have become fashionable. Customers were attracted by advertising such as: 20 minutes of exercise a week is enough, and the effects will be visible after just a few training sessions. Body Tec 20 is a network specializing in EMS training, i.e. electromuscle stimulation. It involves the exerciser putting on a special outfit connected to the device. Every few seconds, it receives an electrical impulse of varying intensity and simultaneously performs exercises for selected muscle groups. The training lasts 20 minutes and everything is coordinated by the trainer.
“EMS is the most effective form of physical exercise. Thanks to the care of a qualified trainer and the use of certified equipment, the exerciser performs a 20-minute workout, which can be compared to a 3-hour workout in the gym. Just 20 minutes of EMS training twice a week provides results equivalent to 5 training sessions with a personal trainer," we read on the BodyTec 20 website.
But something for something. A single training entry cost PLN 249, the "1 training a week" package – PLN 150 per entry, and the "2 training per week" package – PLN 112.50 per entry. Therefore, it is cheaper when the customer decides to buy a pass. This is what Body Tec decided to do. The unit price depends on the number of training sessions, but it is easy to calculate that for a pass for over 50 entries valid for a year, you had to pay approximately PLN 5,000. zloty.
As you can see, fashion was not enough for the chain of fitness clubs with gym equipment to continue to develop. Customers left behind closed doors in branches in Łódź, Wrocław, Częstochowa and Katowice.
Bankruptcy of the nationwide Body Tec 20 chain
Body Tec 20 filed for bankruptcy on June 21, 2024. The company's statement reads:
We regret to inform you that Body Tec 20 Sp. z o. o. on June 21, 2024, filed a bankruptcy petition with the court. Our team worked intensively on the restructuring of the company, including the initiation of restructuring proceedings aimed at approving the arrangement. Despite our efforts and the introduction of numerous measures aimed at reducing costs, the arrangement proposals were rejected by the creditors.
In recent weeks, we have taken every possible step to minimize costs and continue our operations. Unfortunately, this turned out to be impossible, so on June 29, 2024, all our studios will be closed.
We want to assure all our creditors, including customers with season tickets, that they will be able to assert their rights in bankruptcy proceedings after the court declares bankruptcy and appoints a bankruptcy trustee. We would also like to point out that Body Tec 20 Sp. z o. o. is unable to settle its obligations outside bankruptcy proceedings.
The decision to file for bankruptcy was extremely difficult for us, but we believe that it is the only possible solution in the current situation. Thank you for your support and understanding. Best regards, Michał Post.

Customers, but also the company's staff, feel cheated. Many employees did not receive salaries for May and June. They say they don't believe they will get their money back. It is not known whether the bankruptcy estate, i.e. the remaining assets of the company, will cover the claims of all creditors.
