Police officers of the Criminal Department of the Wałcz police station determined who set fire to straw bales on a farm in the Wałcz commune, West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The case will soon be heard by the Family and Juvenile Court, because the perpetrator turned out to be a 15-year-old boy.
The fire occurred in the evening. Firefighters extinguished the burning straw for several hours. The owner estimated the losses at PLN 35,000. In total, almost 300 bales went up in smoke. Everything indicated that the fire was the result of arson.
The police determined that a group of teenagers had been playing near the pile before the fire broke out. The straw was set on fire by a 15-year-old among them, who climbed onto the stack and started playing with a lighter, then lit a firecracker and threw it on the straw. The fire spread rapidly and the children escaped, unable to stop the fire.
