On Saturday at the first in the new year fish auction at the famous Tokyo market for a common tuna paid 207 million yen (approximately 1.28 million euros). Although the price didn’t break records, it became
the second highest in history, which gives hope for the Japanese economy recovery, the Kyodo agency reported.
The 276-kilogram tuna was caught near the coast of Aomori Prefecture, near the city of Oma. A substantial amount for the fish was contributed jointly by the wholesaler and the company owning the Sushi Ginza Onodera restaurant chain.
