Gosia: From new to championship and new life

From some years to Gosia, despite that she had periods of physical activity, she was not a regular gym goer. At age 59 years she decided to start systematic training, which proved to be a breaking moment in her life. After struggling with the diagnosis of malignant cancer she faced a choice: to let fear and limitations take control over her life, or to fight for her health and self. She chose to fight. Today, after 13 years of working with one personal trainer, she is proof of that determination and consequence can produce extraordinary results.
“When the first time I came to the gym, I had the impression, that everyone was thinking: ‘At your age? Leggings? Why what are you that?’ Fast however I understood, that that those were only my own concerns. People at the gym showed their complete support and friendliness” – remembers Gosia.

Today she is not only a regular regular club Xtreme Fitness Gyms in Bytom, but also Poland Masters champion in jumping in dal and running at 100 meters. At trainings he feels like at home, and infuses others – both youth, and the younger generation.

The gym as a place without barriers

Gosia emphasizes, that Xtreme Fitness Gyms is a place, where everyone can feel accepted. “At the gym I meet people of different ages, with different stories and goals. There is no one looking at that, how you are years old, only supporting you on your way” – says.

This is message. Is the heart of the “Zone free from stereotypes” campaign, whose goal is to break barriers and encourage Polish people to join the fitness community, in which there is no place for evaluation.
Surveys conducted for the campaign show, how significant this problem is:

  • 50% of people did evaluate the gym due to stereotypes.
  • 1 per 5 persons did withdraw from exercise due to fear of assessment.
  • More than 40% of respondents recall their first visit at the gym.

Xtreme Fitness Gyms wants to change that, creating a space, in which reckons only the individual goal and want to grow.

The “Zone free from stereotypes” has a purpose to break barriers related to age, gender and other stereotypes. Xtreme Fitness Gyms encourages the creation of community, in which each feels accepted and supported.

– Fitness is something more than exercise. It is a way to live full of energy, health and joy. The campaign promotes the belief, that fitness is a space for everyone, without regard to external characteristics, and encourages to discover your own capabilities – says Marcin Polanowicz, Marketing Manager at Xtreme Fitness Gyms.

“The best is just before me”

Gosia, as ambassador of the campaign, says straightforwardly: “The most beautiful and the best is just before me. Age is only a number – the most important is, what we have in our head.” Her history is an example, that breaking stereotypes can change life. Thanks to regular training she received fitness, confidence of herself and joy of living. But what distinguishes they is the willingness to share their passion and inspire others.

– I want to show, that life after 50, 60, or even 70 can be full of new challenges, joy and health. Everything depends on our attitude and persistence – he stresses.

Gosia, known on Instagram and Facebook as Fit Gocha, is an example of a person, who does not be limited by stereotypes. As ambassador of Xtreme Fitness Gyms, she inspires others to act, independently of age. On her social media she shares her experiences, motivating to physical activityandhealthystyleliving.Hermotto-“Dothat,whatyoulike,anddon’tlookatthat,whatothersthink.Ageisnotanword”-hasbecomeaninspirationformany.Gosiashows,thatfitnessisnotjustexercise,Butthewaytoa betterversionofyourself.
