Reports of straw fires have been coming in almost every day in recent days. There was also a large fire in Wola Zambrowska, Podlaskie Voivodeship, where over 500 straw bales burned. The situation was even more dangerous because the pile was located on a farm.
A total of 9 units were dispatched to the scene of the incident: 3 units from JRG Zambrów, 2 units from Volunteer Fire Department KSRG Stary Laskowiec and one unit from Volunteer Fire Department KSRG Zbrzeźnica, Volunteer Fire Department KSRG Wiśniewo, Volunteer Fire Department Stary Skarżyn, Volunteer Fire Department Krajewo Białe.
After reaching the scene of the incident, they found about 500 bales of burning straw gathered on the farm (there were grain silos nearby). The fire brigade's actions included securing the scene of the incident, administering 6 jets of extinguishing water to the burning bale and then taking it to a nearby field and pouring straw again. Rescue operations ended at 22:16. A total of 42 firefighters took part in the incident – informs the State Fire Service Headquarters in Zambrów.
