According to DSM Group, by the end of the first half of 2024, 66% of the pharmacy market in the Russian Federation (almost 41 thousand outlets) is controlled by the top 20 chains. Moreover, these chains are growing faster than the market: if overall sales in the segment have grown by 17% in monetary terms since the beginning of the year, then sales of the 20 largest chains have grown by 25%. At the same time, in physical terms, growth for the pharmacy market was insignificant – only 0.7%.
Recently, the largest pharmacy chains have accelerated the absorption of competitors. Thus, Neo-Pharm bought out the Aptechnye Traditsii chain, which unites almost 100 pharmacies, BSS bought out Murmansk Pharmacy with 40 branches, and Rigla bought out the Nizhny Novgorod chains Aptechestvo and Farmani, which unite 375 pharmacies.
According to the results of the second quarter of 2024, the leader was the pharmacy chain "April" – its share of the entire market was 9.77%. Next comes "Rigla" with 9.24% of the market – until recently it occupied first place in the Russian Federation for this indicator.
