- The LOZ is dominated by hybrid rye varieties, which have a higher yield potential than the population varieties.
- The National Register of Varieties (KR) currently includes 80 varieties of winter rye.
The List of Recommended Varieties makes it easier for farmers to select the right varieties for cultivation. It is created based on the production results of a given species obtained in given locations and stable over the years. This then proves that a given variety works well in local farming conditions, in soils typical for the region and in the context of the specific climate that prevails there. It is worth paying attention to it, although it is difficult to find the newest varieties available on the market there. To be included in the LOZ, a variety must be tested in a specific region for at least 2 years.

Hybrid varieties of rye dominate
This is another year when hybrid varieties dominate the list of recommended varieties. This fact should not be surprising, since hybrid varieties, according to research by the Post-Registration Variety Experimentation (PDO), yield about 20 percent more than population varieties. There are 18 of them in this year's list, and 7 are in the top ten most frequently recommended. In 13 provinces, the KWS Igor variety is recommended for sowing, and farmers from the Łódź province have the most recommendations (13 varieties to choose from).

Still popular population varieties
