Coalition politicians have headed into budget talks, which have begun in the spirit of a real tax rally. Two things have been clear in the coalition talks: tax increases and cuts are inevitable, and the tax rally is over for now. There is no doubt about the first. We know that next year we will see increases in income tax, sales tax and excise duty, and we will also start paying a car tax. However, the break from new taxes did not last long. First of all, Finance Minister Jürgen Ligi said that the agreed increase in corporate income tax was not the best solution and that the same money could be collected more effectively from the wage fund of companies. This did not please the Social Democratic Party, and Lauri Läänemets announced that he would enter the budget talks with three mysterious alternative ideas. However, even these three may not be enough, since specific cuts have not been recorded and the figures do not yet add up. It may be necessary to find additional money.
